With its summery hues and organic shapes, Dinosaur Designs’ new collection Paradise transports us to a blissful tropical landscape of our dreams. An eclectic interpretation of paradise, the collection reimagines botanical motifs of flowers and leaves, interpreting them in artistic forms that conjure Gaugin’s painterly gardens and Miro’s whimsical birds.
Rendered in a palette of Citrus, Flamingo, Sky, Leaf and Lychee, the collection introduces a new strong, tonal purple, Grape, to punctuate the homewares. Paradise bowls inspired by frangipanis come in two sizes, and, along with bold bud-shaped vases with petal edges, are testament to the craftsmanship of Dinosaur Designs’ team of artisans who create each piece by hand in the Sydney studio. Leaf bowls return in the colours of the season, effortlessly sculptural and endlessly practical.
The jewellery collection heroes floral forms in playful colours, with Paradise daisy earrings and rings in bold polished resin with shiny brass centres. Paradise bangles are also new, joyously referencing frangipani shapes, and gorgeous seasonal decorations join the collection, in the form of resin bell flowers and birds to grace a Christmas tree or a window.
Woven into Paradise are highlight pieces in solid brass from the LO Collection, designed by Louise Olsen. There are unique objects for the home such as the beautifully curved Bean vase and the witty Cone Shell jar, as well as statement jewellery pieces, from polished brass daisies and leaves rendered as rings, earrings and necklaces to magnificent stacked brass bangles.
Paradise was photographed on location at Narrabeen Beach by Levon Baird, with styling by Kirsty Barros and Heleena Trahanas. The collection launches on 9 October in all Dinosaur Designs stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, New York, London and online.
