LICHEN

LICHEN

Introducing Dinosaur Designs’ new collection, Lichen.

Designed by Co-Founders and Creative Directors, Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy, Dinosaur Designs introduces their new collection Lichen. A thoughtful exploration of color and texture, Lichen captures an essence of freshness that joyfully welcomes in the new year.

With color and texture as the inspiration, Lichen features handmade resin homewares and jewelry showcasing an earthy palette accentuated by polished silver and tonal glass. Alongside classic Dinosaur Designs colors of Cream, Chalk Swirl, Mint and Granite, the collection introduces two new colours, Lichen, a deep swirled teal, and Cocoa, a subtle earthy brown that grounds the collection’s lighter tones.

The homewares of Lichen were curated to showcase the collection’s color palette, with bold almost mysterious shapes across vases and tableware being transformed by hues of blues, white and brown. When designing the collection, it was this transformation through color that inspired Louise, explaining “It's amazing how color can transform a shape and change the whole feel of a piece. Through experimenting with color, we are able to bring a whole new perspective to already existing designs."

To accompany the resin and silver homewares, Lichen also introduces new designs to the studio’s growing range of glassware, with some of their classic vase shapes reimagined in colourful mouth-blown glass. Also in glass are the Ormandy wine glasses and decanter, the first designs from Stephen’s new namesake range.

“When using glass as a medium I think of philosopher Lǎozǐ’s principle that an object’s value comes from its ‘nothingness’. Glass works in a way that makes you pay attention to the negative space, the void - which makes it such a unique material to work with”, notes Stephen.

Lichen’s jewelry continues the exploration of color and texture, skilfully mixing elements of polished and matte resin with moments of silver. Accompanying a selection of classic styles, Lichen introduces a number of new jewelry designs including cuffs, earrings and beaded ball chokers that showcase the collection’s palette in an elevated polished finish.

Lichen was photographed by Lilli Waters and styled by Nat Turnbull. The collection launches 19th February 2026 in all Dinosaur Designs stores in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, New York, London and online.
